1. Service Description & Acceptance of Terms

CoinScan ("Service", "App") is a coin identification app provided by Vaibhav SG. It identifies coin types from your photos and lets you keep a record of your collection. By creating an account, accessing, or using CoinScan, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply in addition to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement for apps obtained from the App Store.

2. Accounts

You can scan coins without an account, up to a daily limit. An account (email and password, or Sign in with Apple) is needed to save coins to your vault, keep your scan history with your account across devices, and subscribe. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to create an account. You can delete your account at any time in Profile › Settings & Account › Delete Account.

3. Acceptable Use & Prohibited Conduct

You agree to use CoinScan for lawful, personal purposes. You shall not: (a) reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App; (b) upload harmful, illegal, abusive or infringing images; (c) scrape, bulk-query or overload the Service; (d) attempt to bypass daily scan limits, rate limits or subscription checks.

4. AI Identification & Machine Vision Limitations

CoinScan uses an AI vision model to read your photos and compares what it reads with catalogue records. Results are estimates based only on what the photos show. Lighting, glare, wear, cleaning, corrosion and counterfeits all affect results, and identifications can be wrong or incomplete. Each result shows how much it can be relied on; when the photo is not enough to decide, CoinScan says so and may ask for another photo. Details marked as AI readings were read from your photo, not taken from a catalogue. Check important results yourself.

5. No Guarantee of Authenticity, Grading, or Rarity

Photo analysis cannot establish that a coin is genuine, its exact metal content or weight, or its condition grade. CoinScan does not authenticate or grade coins and does not guarantee that any coin is authentic or a genuine mint issue. Any condition you record is your own note, not a certified grade from a grading service such as PCGS or NGC. For valuable, rare or disputed coins, consult an accredited professional.

6. Valuation Disclaimer & Market Pricing

Where CoinScan shows a value, it is a melt value: the value of a coin's precious-metal content at a recent spot price, which ignores collector demand. CoinScan does not provide collector or market values. Any value shown or recorded in the App is for information only: it is not a guaranteed selling price, an appraisal, an offer to buy, or financial advice. What a coin is actually worth depends on its condition, authenticity, rarity, demand and market conditions, and we are not liable for price differences or market changes.

7. User Responsibility for Financial & Trading Decisions

Any decision to buy, sell, trade or insure coins or bullion is made at your own discretion and risk. Do your own research before any transaction.

8. Subscriptions, Billing, Renewals, & Cancellations

CoinScan offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions, Plus and Pro, billed monthly or yearly. They raise the number of scans you can make each day (Free account: 3, Plus: 30, Pro: 100; without an account: 2); scans that find no match are not counted. Limits reset at 00:00 UTC. Payment is charged to your Apple ID (App Store) when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Deleting your CoinScan account does not cancel a subscription. Subscriptions are linked to your CoinScan account.

9. Refunds & Store Policies

Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. CoinScan never receives or stores your payment card details.

10. Intellectual Property & Catalogue Data

The CoinScan app, its design and its software belong to Vaibhav SG. Catalogue information comes from Numista (numista.com) and is shown with attribution; it remains subject to Numista's own terms. You keep ownership of the photos you take.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third parties, including Google (Gemini API, for analysing photos), Numista (catalogue data), Supabase (accounts and database), Railway (hosting), RevenueCat (subscription management) and Apple (Sign in with Apple and payments). We are not responsible for outages, limits or errors of third-party services.

12. Account Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, commit payment fraud or abuse the Service. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in the App.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COINSCAN IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, Vaibhav SG SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE OR VALUE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.

15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, Karnataka, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, the version number changes and you will be asked to accept the new Terms before continuing to use your account.
